Interstate 15. Nevada.

January 30, 2009

It was at around Baker, at the edge of the desert, when the initially satisfying feelings of fascination at the surrounding landscape began to fade, and the overwhelming feeling of nostalgia took a hold. Not only was this dark dry desert road the very same once traveled by countless poets, writers and gamblers, but it was very heart of the Mojave. The 5 hour drive from LA to Vegas, is perhaps, atleast in my mind, our countries most satisfying. There is lunacy is any given direction, be it back toward the Hollywood Hills and thrills, forward toward Vegas in all of it’s absurdity, or just off to the wild dust. This madness seems balanced only by the fortune of good weather, good wheels, and good whiskey.
